“Zindagi Shamma ki surat ho Khudaya meri” — May my life be like a flame, O Lord. These words by Allama Muhammad Iqbal continue to echo in hearts across generations.
On November 9, Pakistan commemorates Iqbal Day, marking the birth of the visionary poet and philosopher in 1877 in Sialkot. Known as Quaid-e-Fikr (Leader of Thought) and Poet of the East, Iqbal played a pivotal role in inspiring the movement that led to the creation of Pakistan.
His poetry, rich in spiritual depth and national consciousness, remains a source of strength and identity. It is no coincidence that the name “Shamma” (candle) was drawn from one of his timeless verses—a symbol of light, sacrifice, and unwavering purpose.
Though Iqbal passed away in 1938, his dream lives on. His words continue to guide those who strive for justice, dignity, and unity.
May Allah be pleased with him.
✨Let our lives burn bright like his words—steadfast, luminous, and full of purpose.
