Last Ramadan, we launched our very first microfinancing initiative. Thanks to your generous donations, we collected more than the required amount within just a few hours — elhamdulillah. With this, an unemployed brother was able to purchase a rickshaw and now earns his daily income through it.
We still had €325.01 remaining in the fund.
Recently, we were approached by a sister who wishes to purchase a calf — or with a bit of luck, a cow. She lives in a village with her two young children. Her husband works and stays in the city. Their current financial situation is unstable, which is why she hopes to acquire the animal.
Her plan is to sell the milk and use a portion at home as a way to save on costs. She has already saved most of the necessary amount, but she still falls short by 50,000 PKR.
This sister comes across as determined and capable, so we’ve decided to provide her with a one-year loan of 50,000 PKR. Based on the exchange rate of 1 euro = 191.45 PKR (as of July 30), this equals €261.16.
That leaves €63.85 in the fund.
Formal agreements will be written and signed in the coming week. May Allah richly reward everyone who has contributed to this project, and may He place barakah and success in this sister’s efforts. May Allah grant her the means to help others as well. Ameen.
